Is it really necessary to use that word?

Maybe I'm getting old, and I'm definitely out of the loop. My 13 year old son would probably agree, but not to my face. But for some reason, I do not understand why it is necessary for Kelly Clarkson's new song to have a title that says "My life would suck without you."

It's a catchy tune, for sure. It probably will be very popular. But why use the word "suck"? Aren't there any other verbs in the dictionary that could have been used? Does Kelly Clarkson need an edge to her songs, now? Or is that word just another way of saying "really bad". Maybe in our "post-Bill Clinton presidency" world the word is now acceptable? I don't know about you, but I get a little annoyed thinking that 10 year old girls will be going to Kelly Clarkson concerts and singing along with the chorus (probably along with their mothers). Is it just me?

I thought about this. When I was growing up, I listened to certain songs that had questionable words in them. When I listened to Van Halen's "Sinners Swing", I was camped out by my stereo in order to turn down the volume at the strategic moment when a certain word was sung. I didn't want my mother to hear it. But Sinners Swing was not a mainstream song. It wasn't played on the radio and the word was not repeated as part of the chorus. I just heard Kelly Clarkson's song in the bank today. Nobody seemed to have a problem with it.

So I guess it's just me.

Three Months into it, I don't think I'm going to make it.

You know, I'm really getting sick and tired of the glorious press that Barack Obama has been getting since he won the election, and especially since the inauguration.  I've tried to be good-hearted about it, but I've just about had it.  George W. Bush didn't get any good press in his entire 8 years in office.  From Day One, the press was President Bush's case, and they are still on his case.  I'm getting sick of it.  Who cares what team he picked to win the NCAA Tournament?  Maybe he should concentrate more on the fixing the economy and stop driving it down the toilet.

I know that I'm not the only one who got a creepy feeling on Inauguration Day.  As I watched the hordes of people that were bussed down there to stand in the freezing cold to watch the new Premier of the USSA.  As they chanted his name, a chill went up my spine.  It reminded me of old footage of Pre-WW2 Germany.   The commentators all were in lock step as well.  I felt like I was witnessing the end of freedom as I knew it.

Barack Obama seems like a likeable guy, but his policies have us sliding into Socialism.  I believe that everything that Obama stands for will damage the country.  The egregious stimulus bill, the Budget.  Stem cell research.  Guantanamo.  Immigration reform.  Government run Health Care.  Card Check.  Can we survive these four years?

BARACK IS EITHER "THAT STUPID" OR HE THINKS THAT WE ARE

Barack Obama must be the dumbest politician around. The fact that he even used the “Lipstick on a Pig” comment less than a week after Sarah Palin’s convention speech (one where she said that the difference between a hockey Mom and a pit bull was lipstick) was a really stupid move. How could he not know what kind of reaction he would get? Could he be really that naïve?

Maybe not.

A better explanation of the lipstick remark is that maybe he knew exactly what he was doing. Believing that the press would back him up and give him every excuse in the book, he has slipped in an insult to Governor Palin, using the “lipstick on a pig” remark, and pretending that it was not intended as an insult. “Why, John McCain himself used that saying almost a year ago, did he not? It’s an expression that is used all the time.” The Drive-Bys have been scrambling to save the savior’s face on this one. But it’s not going to work. We know that he’s not that stupid. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Either Barack Obama is stupid, or he thinks that we are. News Flash, Barry…We’re not that stupid.

Funny thing is that this classless comment comes from Mr. Thin Skin. He spent the primaries crying wolf about everything. He cried that Hillary was picking on him. He cried that Bill was picking on him. The Clintons were ganging up on him, and it wasn't fair..boo hoo.  He called our first “black president“ a racist. He would whine and complain like a little girl. Now “Mr. High Road” is caught in his own web of stupidity. He’s surprised that people are making a big deal about it.  He's defending himself by saying “Who me? I didn‘t mean it like that!?!?!"   As women desert him, Hillary is not returning his calls, and isn’t coming with the cavalry. Maybe it was because he sent that VP text 3 a.m.? His instinct to “rub it in” has probably rubbed Hillary the wrong way. She’s already designing bumper stickers for 2012.

Happily, McCain and Palin are not taking these attacks lying down (probably taking a lesson from the current President, who never defends himself, and gets trampled). I despised McCain during the primaries because would take every slight by Mitt Romney and cry foul, but now the shoe is on the other foot and I kind of like the way that McCain fights back on the smallest of innuendos. They have to fight back as quickly as possible. The press is not going to fight for them. They are lucky that they get any press coverage at all.

Hopefully, the egg on Barry’s face will linger, and he will continue to scramble. It doesn’t help that his veep candidate is Joe the human gaffe machine. It should be very interesting in the months ahead. As long as McCain-Palin continue to keep the heat on, they may have a good chance to win. The country could only hope for as much.

On a side note:

Feminists are really scared of the Palin appeal. I have gotten 2 email fwds from feminists friends warning the feminine sisterhood about Palin. What are they so afraid of? Do they really think that women are so blind that they only vote for women, never thinking of their beliefs? Funny thing is, that every horrible thing that they warn me about is stuff that I like about her. She’s pro-life (oh the horrors!). She’s pro-gun (Can you imagine?). I should have kept the email as an example as to why I wanted to vote for her. Unfortunately, I hit the delete button too quickly.

Dear Mr. Schumer,
 
I did not send a message to you regarding global warming, and this is the second such message that I have received from you thanking me for a message that I never sent.  However, I realize that whatever message I sent was about another subject, and this is proof that you do not read your mail.  I don't expect you to read everything, but I would like a response that is more relevant to the message that was sent.  Maybe you should check with your mail handlers.
 
I am definitely one of those that oppose S. 3036 (Climate security act).  I believe that all of this climate change legislation is fraudulent, and that it would hurt our economy, not help it.  I believe that whatever climate change is happening is not caused by us, but rather, the sun.  I believe that the Global warming hysteria is just another way to regulate how people live and take away more of the freedoms that our military has fought to preserve.  It is also a way to line Al Gore's pockets with his carbon credits scheme. 
 
If I was going to ask you for something, it would be that you reject your party's handling of the war.  Let us win it, and not retreat.  The sooner that we win the war, the sonner that our troops can come home.  Can you tell Harry Reid that we are winning the war? 
 
Let us drill for our own oil and stop sending all of our hard earned money for oil to Venezuela and Saudi Arabia.  Build some refineries.  Why don't we drop some of the taxes that are included on a gallon of gas instead of finding ways to raise them?  All your "climate security act" will do is to tax and regulate somebody, and it will all trickle down to another tax that will raise our gas price.    Maybe if we dropped the taxes, we might help the people who buy the gas.

I always try to balance environmental and economic concerns in ways that protect natural resources and also strengthen the economy. I believe we can do both.

While many people have opposed S. 3036, America’s Climate Security Act, I supported this bill because I believe that the global economy is moving towards one in which carbon emissions are restricted the way that other emissions are restricted. For our industries to stay at the forefront of the global economy, we need to be at the fore of innovation – and encourage innovation through smart regulation.

Without our vibrant economy, we would not be able to do any of the myriad things that make this nation great: educate our children, secure our borders, care for our sick, invent life-changing technologies, even protect the environment. Just a quick survey of the health of the United States’ environment as compared to that of countries with derailed economies shows that our environment is much healthier than the environment in countries which engage in unsound economic policy.

As Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, I have been exploring ways to craft environmental legislation that would encourage competition and innovation. I am hopeful that Congress will be able to find the right balance to protect our environment and maintain a strong economy.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD WE EX"SPECT" ARLEN? IT'S ANOTHER OF YOUR BAD IDEAS!

I woke up this morning to the news that,  amazingly, Sen. Arlen Specter has called for an independent investigation of Spygate.  The article says that he wants an investigation that is possibly similar to the Mitchell report in baseball. With all that is going on in the world, what is this idiot thinking?   I really believe that this is another form of earmarking, because he is doing this to please his Eagle fan constituents, no matter what the cost to everyone else. 

Aren't there other more important things to investigate or spend taxpayer dollars on?  I don't know how much the Mitchell investigation cost the taxpayers, but in my opinion, it was a waste of money.  It was just a photo-op for the Congress so that they could stand behind their pulpits and say "Steroids is bad".  Maybe Spector could give us all a break and get up there, make another speech and say "Cheating is bad".  Do we need another long, drawn out investigation to point out the obvious?  Or is our culture so tainted that we need an investigation to find out the difference between right and wrong? 

We could spend the money on other things, like drilling for oil.  Maybe you should think of something constructive.  Don't be the usual McCain-esque thorn in the president's side.  Make yourself useful.  Think of something important to do for a change.

What I will not be watching in the near future...or ever

Here is a list of things that I do not wish to see now or in the future:

Today’s Oprah Winfrey Show about Earth Day with special guest, the Reverend Al Gore (of the Global Warming Religion). Actually, this is what started the idea of  this list.  Hey Oprah...I know that you want to save the world, but do you have to have to subject us to Al Gore? 

Real Time with Bill Maher: Never again.  He can go to...well, you know where.

Generation Kill (HBO production about the Iraq War).  No Thanks. I get enough anti-war rhetoric from the mainstream media.

Recount (HBO’s story about the 2000 election). Ditto.  By the way, I cancelled HBO.

An Inconvenient Lie…I mean Truth:  All Gore, all the time.  Thanks to this movie we had the coldest winter in years.  Maybe it's working?  LOL

Any other lie filled documentary about the Global Warming Religious movement:   This also includes the drivel on Discovery, History, and National Geographic Channel.  Whenever the intro says "Is this planet in crisis?", I usually find some kind of sports event to watch.  Unfortunately, I had to stop watching "Planet Earth" after the famous "swimming Polar Bear" episode. Too bad.  The footage was beautiful, but they just had to ruin it, as always. 

 
Anything by Michael Moore from the past or in the future:   Because he's Bloated idiot and a liar.  I think that about covers it.

Crapdown with Keith Olbermann: Isn't he a sportscaster?  Oh yeah, that's right.  They added his stupid carcass to the NBC Sunday Night Football roster.  So you had to ruin that too?

Hardball with Chris Matthews:  If see him kiss another Democrat’s butt, I will lose my lunch.

The View (Estrogen yackfest):  They let Rosie say whatever she wanted. Now that she’s gone, they let Joy Behar say whatever she wants.  Whatever gets you ratings, Barbara.

Dr. Phil: Sorry Doc, I used to like your show, but I’m sick of watching people yell at each other. Isn’t that what happened on Jerry Springer?

Jimmy Carter: Time to go back to the peanut farm and retire, Mr. President. We were sick of you in 1980.  Aren't there any houses to build?

Any current TV drama that has a socially relevant theme, because you know that they are trying to “teach us something”:  CLICK!

The Weather Channel:  suggested by the theoilpatchplug "They are also econuts".   I don't know how I forgot about them, but I never put it on anymore.  I get my weather from the internet.  I want the weather, and fast, and I don't want lecture.  Got it?
 
Time Magazine:  Let's use this example under the assumption that watching also includes reading.  Have you seen their latest cover?  A tree replaces the American flag?  I wouldn't be surprised if Time's man of the year for 2008 will be Mahmoud Amadwackijob.

Once again, I am cancelling HBO

I am so sick and tired of HBO, and I am cancelling it once again. I should have known better when I subscribed, but they sucked me in with the terrific "John Adams" miniseries.  But usually HBO is filled with smut, so I normally try not to waste my money on it. 

 
One show that especially outrages me on a regular basis is Bill Maher's program. It is usually a show I try to avoid, but they play it so often that it seems to be on all the time. It is very hard for me to watch, because the views of he and his guests go against everything I believe in. But, I do believe that there is a freedom of speech that we must defend in this country, even though my views are attacked almost daily by the mainstream press. I also believe that if one does not agree with someone's opinion, and you don't like his show, don't watch it. However, his comments about the Pope being a "Nazi" and that the Catholic Church is a "child abusing religious cult" is an insult to me as a Catholic. This is the last straw, and I can‘t just ignore it this time. Have we reached an age where "anything goes?"

Would they make him retract his comments if he had insulted the gays, or the African Americans, or even the Global Warming fanatics? Of course they would. What makes his comments so agreeable to them that they just let it slide? Would they let him say the same thing about Islam? I seriously doubt it.  Sorry to say, they would be afraid that someone would bomb the Time-Warner building.  It's much easier to pick on the Catholics, because we just let it go.  I guess that we are used to it.

I am so tired of the anti-Catholic rhetoric and the abhorrence of Christians in general. It seems that the main stream media has easily forgotten that this country was built on Judeo-Christian beliefs. The first settlers of this country came here for freedom OF RELIGION, not FROM RELIGION. People like Bill Maher seem to like to ignore that fact. It is that "anything goes" attitude with no respect for others that is ruining the country. It looks like Time-Warner doesn't seem to mind if the country falls apart as long as free speech is preserved. Where does that leave the rest of us?

SPITZ ER? I HARDLY KNOW HER!

So another conceited jerk gets flushed down the toilet of history.  What comes around goes around, and once a jerk, always a jerk.   He was the real life "batman" of gotham, right?  But this crime fighter stepped on people as he climbed up the ladder, ruining many lives. He used his power relentlessly and thought that he was invincible.  Thankfully, he was not.  To his surprise, after the stunning revelations of his law-breaking private life, there was no one there to pat him on the back and beg him to stay.  All the Democrats ran for cover, and left Spitzer out in the cold.  Being a New Yorker, and a person who never liked him in the first place, I'm glad to see him go.
 
It is stunning that Spitzer actually thought that he could actually get away with this behavior.  It annoys me that his humongous ego made him think that he could get away with anything.  I watched him at his press conference, with his wife by his side, as he apologized to his family, his friends and the people of New York.  He said that he was truly sorry for what he had done, but it is obvious to me that he was just sorry that he got caught.  It is truly amazing that he put everything on the line and sacrificed the integrity of his family just to play with fire.  What an idiot.  It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

PLEASE DON'T RUIN THE OSCARS FOR ME THIS YEAR!

I used to love to watch the Oscars.  I loved the grandeur of it all.  You would see legendary movie stars dressed to the nines, people that you didn't see that often.   This was before the current era of pregame and postgame specials where they spend hours talking about the dresses, the jewelry, etc.  It is all too much.

 
Now it's a bunch of self-important celebrities being treated like royalty by the adoring public, and it's a bit sickening watching the hero worship.  But, I still watch it none-the-less.  Unfortunately, it has become harder and harder to watch because is has regularly become the pulpit of the left leaning Hollywood elite.  One could only watch a tape of last year's gushing over the Reverand Al Gore of the Global Warming Religion to see how far it has gone left.  I was waiting for someone to wash and kiss his feet.  I would have stayed and watched the tribute, but a took a well-timed bathroom break.

 

The Oscars have become a "bash Bush" affair for the past 7 years.  It's is a totally cringe-worthy affair that I always seem to suffer through and am usually told "I told you so" by my husband the next day as I wonder why in the world I stayed up so late.   I'm sure that Sunday will be another horrible experience. But, I can't save myself from myself.  It is an addiction. 

 

I've lived through Whoopi Goldberg and her snide remarks.  I managed to watch that sloth Michael Moore make his false statements.  I also managed to make it through the Oscars last year as Leo DiCaprio practically made out with Al Gore.  I'll make it through this year's show too.  I just wish that I could enjoy it like I did when I was a kid.
